hiya.. yes i chose to go to a hospital i prefered which is 30 miles away for my last baby.. it does cause a bit of faffing with your tests etc cos the midwifes arent as familiar with the systems of other hospitals (and i keep hearing the 'funding' word too) But yes you are perfectly entitled to be treated in whichever hospital you would like!

Good luck xx

hi yes you can i live in coningsby (near lincoln) and was supposed to have my son in boston or lincoln and i chose to have him in Grimsby (i'm from grimsby all my family live there) and this was fine even though grimsby is a 45 minute drive.

Grimsby has a lovely maternity unit and the midwives were really great and helpful. plus all the rooms are private and ensuite and partners can stay 24 hours a day.

thats why i wanted to go there, a friend of mine has had a baby in scunny and grimsby and she said grimsby is so much nicer than scunny, it would only take us 40 mins to get there so i think im going to try to do that. did you arrange it in advance?x

As soon as i moved to coningsby (i was 22 weeks) i told my midwife i wanted to have him in grimsby i'd already arranged to have my scan there and she rang them and sorted it out. Think it took a few weeks for the paperwork to be sorted out but that was because they had to transfer from kings lynn to grimsby and all their notes were different.
