| Am I silly to worry about lack of movement at this stage? Im 17 weeks tomorrow and 4 years ago lost a baby at 16 weeks so understandably 16 weeks is a scary time for me..Im expecting my 5th baby and had been feeling flutters from about 14 weeks..last week the flutters became more noticeable..more like a gentle tap and sometimes a popping sensation..I recognised it from my previous children..its different to wind...last week I had noticeable movements every day then they tailed off...I felt nothing on saturday and ended up phoning the midwife in a state who listened to the hb and it was fine..however Ive felt nothing today..and am working myself into a frenzy again...am I being silly..I mean I know at this stage they are still small...I feel like Im on a knife edge just waiting for the worst to happen | | | | Status: Online

| I didnt feel her much at all until 18 weeks - and then not properly (or regularly until about 20 weeks) - it also depends on where your placenta is (which you will find out at 20 week scan) as this can muffle the feeling if its anterior...you are bound to be anxious at this stage but try not to worry... ask your midwife about getting a home doppler... I have mixed feelings about them as I know I would worry badly if I couldnt find the heartbeat myself! Your midwife might advise one though if you are anxious about baby and she might be able to give you some tips on finding the heartbeat easily so you dont have the panic of not finding it straight away? xx | | | | Status: Offline

| well I had a scan 2 weeks ago and placenta is definitely posterior..I did hire a home doppler but half the reason I got in a state was because I couldnt find the hb myself on saturday so DH has confiscated it! | | | | Status: Online

| It is still an early time, and as you say, the baby is still small. It's also possible that the baby is positioned so that it's kicking inwards, so you may not feel anything at all. don't worry about it; I'm sure your bay is kicking away like mad, even if you're not aware of it. | | | | Status: Online

| Hi hun,
Although it probably is silly I totally understand your worry. Although I've not been in the same boat as you, movement wise (I felt nothing till 18 weeks!), I had a MMC in April and have worried all the way through my pregnancy. Although, since my 20 week scan last wk, I have felt much better. I am sure your LO is just perfect and has just shifted positions slightly, which is why you aren't feeling much, but you could always ring your MW and see if you could pop and see her for a quick llisten with her doppler.
As I said though hun, I am really sure everything is just perfect, some people feel something and then nothing for weeks and I am quite sure this is just what is happening with you.

| i didnt get everyday movements till around 20-21 weeks dont worry your self too much and chance of finding heartbeat every time are slim you shoulldnt really use a dopler till at least 22 weeks i think it states on the box thats because your bubz is small and so fast its hard to keep up chin up im sure bubz is fine. xxxx | | | | Status: Offline

| Thats why I dont have a doppler!! Ok, bin that idea!! I spoke to my midwife about movement at my last appointment and she said its not something to be counting or anything until after 25 weeks.... definitley mention how anxious you are to her though - if she has time she may well let you go in for more regular appointments to hear the heartbeat xx | | | | Status: Offline

| I've had the same concerns. Some days Bean moves lots and other days, nowt at all....or if Bean is then the movements are not strong enought that I can feel.
Oooh, bring on when Bean is kicking me in the ribs!
