Getting REALLY wound up now.....

...Ive chosen an unusual girls name (if my baby is a girl) and have got to the point where if people ask I dont want to tell them. My partner and I love the name Martha, and are set on this as our choice. The comments I get are along the lines of:
"Better hope its a boy then!"

"Do you want your child to get picked on"

"Ooh thats a bit old fashioned"

Or just general sniggering.

Its actually getting a bit upsetting, and I want to tell people to just f**k off!!

I didnt think it was that weird a name!

Just needed to rant!

OMG i love that name! Its lovely and i am not just saying that!

The way i see it is its your baby and you name him/her to suit yourself and your OH and take no notice what other people say!!! Cheeky sods!!!!

Next time you get a comment like that say "i dont remember asking for your opinion"!!!!!!!

I dont think it's a weird name, in fact I really like unusual names and I'm loving people's ideas on here! I've had all sorts of comments from people about our names, but you sound a lot stronger than me, cos I feel myself not wanting to pick a name that other people don't like...I shouldn't care but I do!!

you'll prob find that when you're lovely child is here, people will love the baby's name anyway cos they'll fall in love with him/her xx

Dont worry honey, when baby is here the name will fall right into place and no-one will be sniggering then!

I can only imagine what people would have said about our name choice if we told anyone to start with!

I think it's a really pretty name. Don't let them wind you up. Maybe easier said than done?? That's why I refuse to tell people what our Bean is going to be called....

I have chosen an unusual name for my little girl too... I have told only a few people and have had the same sort of responses. One froend even said 'oh I will have to get used to that, not sure if I like it'.. I was like - er well its not really down to what you think is it?? I think Martha is a lovely name x

Oh Bee I think Martha is a lovely name.

The little girl that lived next door to me was called Martha and she loves her name and has certainly never been picked on because of it.

To be honest I have come to the conclusion that no matter what name you choose people will always have an opinion on it - what a shame they can't keep it to themselves
