Am I throwing up blood?

Sorry for TMI.

I haven't kept anything down since probably Wednesday. Everything else has eventually come back up whether it's an hour or 5 hours later.

I have just thrown up again and it was bright red and there was a lot of it.

The only thing I had yesterday that I DID keep down was half a Double Decker chocolate bar and a packet of Salt and Vinegar crisps and some water.

Its difficult to say without seeing it... it could be that all the throwing up has irritated the lining of your throat and stomach and that there is a little bit of blood in it and because of the water content it looks like more... are you seeing the consultant when you have your scan hon?

You more than likely aren't throwing up blood. It is more likely to be a burst blood vessel at the back of your throat (from the pressure of vomiting a lot). I would get it checked out though, just incase.

when you say quite a lot of it as we talking a tea spoon a soup spoon or more?
- vomiting that is very forceful or continues for a very long time may cause a tear in the small blood vessels of the throat or the esophagus, producing streaks of blood in the vomit. I had spots rather than streaking. I found that drinking warm 7up or lemonade helped.
Are you keeping any liquids down?
- if your not your in danger of getting dehydrated keeping lots of food down is not all that important but keeping liquids down is. Have you tried drinking smoothys or soup? You also need to change from 3 meals a day to 5 or 6 smaller meals so you have a better chance of keeping something down.
Are you still taking multi vitamines?
- When i was throwing up quite a lot during the day i changed to the pregnancy multi vits where you can break them up. I would take a bit though different parts of the day so i was sure of taking something in.

Either way its definatly worth letting the MW know the sickness has got worse. I would love to say that all those books that say the morning sickness magicaly goes away after the 1st trimester are all true i am still throwing up and have gone no more than 5 days without beeing ill. You just have to adjust what you do and how you do it on the days you are sick and carry a change of clothes, bottle of water and sick bag with you.

take care

Loopy
