3D scan? Dont get baby too active!

I didnt havea 3D (4D?!) scan done but I asked abotu it yesterday at my 20 week scan. The nurse mentioned that it'd be pointless at that particular time as my baby was so active - she said that we'd get some very bizarre pictures!!

So if you're paying for a private scan don't get baby too active - I'd eaten a Lion bar about half an hour before, which I've noticed on two occasions gets baby wriggling in a BIG way (strangely a lot more than any other choc)! I'd also drank some cold water just before I went in.

If I were you and you want good pictrues I'd make sure to NOT do this before a 3D scan! It worked well for my 20 week one though - watching him move about and wave his arms was just amazing!!! But I thought I'd warn you 3D-ers so you dont waste your money, I guess they need a sleepy baby then?

Maybe I'll give lion bars a miss for a while...in case he develops some sort of hyperactivity disorder! They really seem to send him loopy!

It makes sense though. Cause don't they take still pictures and that gives the effect of a video? Wow I've gone and confused myself.

I wanted a 3D scan but I think I'm going to be giving it a miss. My medical aid doesn't cover them and they cost an arm and a leg.

At first I was disappointed but then I thought about it. By the time the Dr will be willing to do a 3D scan I'm going to be in my 8th month. I'd have lasted all the rest of the pregnancy without one. All I have to do is wait a couple more weeks and I'll have a 3D baby in my arms.

My DH already told me no OJ allowed before the next scan (she wouldn't stay still at the 20 week scan).

Interesting! Now I will have to decide what to do before I go in for mine.

The good thing is that if they don't get good pictures, I can go back for a free visit Hmm, a good way to get another look at baby. ROFL

it is true at 20 weeks LO is a wriggler, but once you get a 3d/4d scan done your between 27-32 weeks LO doesnt have as much room and movements are less wriggly more just slow punches kick's my LO moved all the way through my 3d scan, i was 27 weeks but she didnt move too much where we couldnt keep up. so i would advse to get it done as late as they will allow it.

Really? My boy was just SQIURMING at my 3D ultrasound at 28 weeks, and the pictures turned out absolutely amazing. We got tons of different ones, of him in different positions doing different things. I thought I was really quite good, and the pics definately weren't weird.

I was told by my 3D place that between 26-29 was best. Baby is bigger, but not squished, because when baby has little room it's hard to really get good, clear pictures pictures.
