short cervix and scared!

I had a 20 week scan on friday and its a BOY !!! But I was told I have a short cervix and was immediately placed on hospital bedrest. My cervix is about 4mm long and I am so scared of going into preterm labor. I'm gonna have another scan 2morrow (monday) to check the length and I'm hoping its not any shorter. My doctor checked me manually and said my cervix didn't seem that short. My cervix is currently closed and I have no contractions and my water hasn't broke. I feel my baby boy move all the time. The doctor also told me that having a cerclage at this point is very risky and that he has had patients with the same condition as myself deliver at 30+ weeks. I'm praying that being on bedrest will prevent an early labor. Has anyone experienced this? And please keep me and my babyboy in your hearts, this is my first pregnancy

Congrats on your lil boy! I'm sorry to hear about being put on bedrest, but hopefully everything will turn out ok in the end. Keep your feet up and try to relax!

The best thing you can do is rest and ask plenty of questions so you are armed with as much information as possible. Keep your mind occupied while on bedrest or it'll drive you crazy... books, magazines, puzzles...? I really hope everything works out but you are doing what your doctor advises so you are doing the best thing for your baby. Congratulations on Team Blue x

The most important thing is that they've discovered it so they can keep a close eye on you. They should be able to put a stitch in within a few weeks and you can relax a bit more. Keep your chin up- I know a girl who had her baby at about 32 weeks due to cervix problems and she's got a very healthly little 3yo now

im sorry to hear your cervix is so short , have they mentioned a stitch? is there enough cervix to stich? stay on strict bed rest hun ive read alot of stories of women who after bedrest (only up to loo) manage to gain length back

lots of love hun, take care and STAY IN BED, we will all be here with you to entertain you
