It's in another country. Things differ so much that you can't really get mad about this kind of thing without knowing the background to their culture.

The toy thing was a little worrying, but she'll learn. She'll have to.

it's a completely different culture. and although it's shocking and not something i could ever agree with it seems accepted in her culture and she seems to be being supported by both families. it's quite common in some cultures for children to have children, and although i don't agree with it, i don't feel i have the right to get angry about it either.

abz xx

What I don't understand is why it is legal for them to get married, but not for them to have had sex. I suppose it must be a case of once they're married the wife becomes his property. It sounds sad to us, but it's not unusual in their culture. You would think that girls would be given some sort of sex education though if it's common for them to marry young!

I kind of feel like her toy comment was a poorly expressed way of saying that she's having to give up being a little girl and the baby is her life now.

Whatever else she's just gone through, she's still an 11 year old with an 11 year old's limited vocabulary and ability to express herself.

She ineloquently said what an adult could have said much more clearly and as is the norm for the media, they jumped on it because it's such an attention grabbing sound bite.

That's just what I took from it, though.

It was not an official wedding but a cultural one with no legal standing. That's why the "husband" is being prosecuted.

I am 23, I have been with my OH for over 8 years, we own our own house we both have brilliant safe jobs. We are desperate for a baby but can't concieve for some reason.

Surely if there was a god out there, he would let responsible adults have the baby they long for, instead of children having children all the time.

I'm sorry but this has just made me really angry!
