GRRRR little rant about friends and birth

I have to say I am SOOO sick of people laughing at me when they ask about my plans for birth and I say I am not going to make plans. I am going to go with the flo but I refuse to use pain medication! Seriously laughing at me!!

UGH I am just not a pill taker! Ever! I don't go to the dr I don't get immunization jab's I don't take pills and I don't think it's all that funny! A good friend of mine yesterday asked me about my birthplan and I said no meds! And she went on and on and on about how she will ask me again after I've been in labor and given into the epidural! AND SHE DOESN'T EVEN HAVE KIDS!!! And she was laughing the whole time! I wanted to reach in the phone and strangle her! I also said it's my decision...and she said WHATEVER!

I hate people sometimes!! Does this happen to you girls?? Who the hell are these people to tell me what I want during my labour? JEEZ

ok better

My 'plan' is no plan, but get the epidural. Don't really see why there needs to be a plan at all.

I fully understand. When I say I want to attempt a drug-free home birth (I say attempt because a lot of first time mums do go to hospital with a home birth and I don't want to feel disappointed if I do) people range from giving me a funny look to trying to talk me out of it to just telling me I am just being ridiculous.

I have a friend who had a plan, but still needed interventions she hadn't planned on becasue there were safety issues etc but no pain meds. and has been riding me to get somethig on paper and present it to the dr at my next visit to discuss.

I agree with you why plan, you can only control so much. As long as your support person understands your wishes and can be your advocate in moments of weakness you will be set.

No I just don't think it's always neccessary and I trust in my own body to do the job it's supposed to do naturally. And it seems to have served me right so far! I understand that sometiems it is needed, and if I was put in a position where I needed it I would have no problem. I just don't feel comfortable taking my dr's word as God's I dunno just me being me I guess.

Let it go over your head and breathe!

Forget about them.

As for birth plans, I too have no plan for now but for whatever we do decide, I really couldn't give two shades of shite what others think.

Do what makes YOU and your family happy!!!!

i couldnt of managed without pain relief when i had my son and ill definately be having gas and air and possibly pethadine when i have this baby but if you dont want any pain relief hun then good on you, everyone reacts differently to pain and plently of people manage to have a totally natural birth...im just not one of them lol. As for birth plans, ive written down what i would like but i know most of it will change when the time comes. All i would say to you regarding pain relief is if you change your mind at the time and end up wanting gas and air or anything else, then dont beat yourself up about it, when i was pregnant with my son i was determined not to have any pain relief but when the time came i just couldnt manage but i can remember feeling like i had kind of let myself down a bit. i wont feel like that this time though, i want drugs as soon as possible lol

My husband doesn't feel comfortable with home birth and it's the only thing he has really stood up for so I agreed that we will do our own thing at the hospital

I know that if I write a birth plan and it doesn't go exactly the way that it is supposed to I will feel really anxious and out of control and I can't handle that. I don't need that stress during labour at all!

It's not ridiculous people are just closed minded about anything other than going to the hospital laying on your back and screaming out a child!

Yep, happened to me All my friends laughed when I said I was going drug free, and one who's mum was a MW said I'd never manage not to have an epi. None of these people have kids. I proved them all wrong, and did it naturally. I'm sure you can too
