right i'm a total worrier! i worry about EVERYTHING and i read in someone else's post the other day that you shouldnt have hot baths. basically i didn't know this. and all i ever have is baths becuase i prefer to them to showers. and i have my baths really hot! i dont like them warm and keep filling it up with hot water when im in there. i mentioned this on the thread and people said that we're advised not to have hot baths.
im really worrying now becuase i hate a hot bath last night and now i dont think ive felt the baby move since! could a hot bath do real damage?? i feel so stupid for not knowing this!! please tell me im over reacting! xx

Well they say people shouldn't have hot baths because the baby cant cool itself back down again so I stopped having hot baths!! I'm sure everything is ok hun, if you're worried, perhaps ring the midwife and ask her to check everythin is fine xx

It's probably best to just ring the midwife as suggested just to set your mind at ease more than anything. I would definitely stop the hot baths now that you know anyhow. I'm sure there's been a lot of pregnant women who have been in hot water before and everything's fine, so don't assume anything's wrong, but go get checked anyhow to set your mind at ease. Don't feel bad for not knowing, we learn as we go along and I think all of us can confess to doing something we weren't ''suppose'' to do according to the books, lol

I think hot baths are more of a concern in First Tri as its not good to have a high body temperature of any sort then.. try not to worry but its probably a good idea to get some reassurance from your midwife x

drink something cold and lie on your side to check bubs' movement. If you don't feel anything after, I would call your mw to double check.

I've heard hot baths are not advisable generally speaking, but that a hot bath is better than a hot tub because the upper part of the body is usually out of the bathtub, helping to keep the body cooler than if the whole body were immersed in the hot water, such as is the case with the hot tub. It's also said that it might be ok in a hot bath because the hot water cools off over the time when a person is in the bath.

That cooling effect is canceled out a bit by refilling the bath with hot water while in it (which is what I like to do too when I take a bath) and I also like to put my whole body in the bath too, as much as I can, so for these reasons, I don't take baths during pregnancy cause a lukewarm bath would just suck, lol.. I stick to the hot showers.

Remember that at 19 weeks, there's going to be days when you don't feel much of anything from your little one. He could be all curled up having a sleepy day, or kicking back where you can't feel him. Give your midwife a call if you want to put your mind at ease, but it's likely that everything is perfectly fine!

When I was first pregnant I was reeeally paranoid about this and had really crappy lukewarm baths, but then I was told it's raising your core body temperature significantly that can do the damage....so you can have a fairly warm bath, but it shouldn't be so hot that it reddens your skin or so you can't just hop straight in, those are good indicators

There was also a swedish study that showed that even in a hot tub by the time your core tempurature is rasied enough to harm the baby, the women would become too uncomfortable and would likely get out on her own anyway.

Not saying they are a great idea but the likelyhood of having done harm is slim.
