Can I get sacked for...

arranging a meeting with HR to explain I am struggling being back full time (I shouldnt be back at all according to my consultant) and asking if it is possible to do job share/part time but kinda act like I feel as though I am letting them doing and want to work here and do my best and lay it on thick a bit rather than go and just expect they do what I say?

Of course you cant.

I am back to work part-time and that is with one baby.

They cannot sack you whilst pregnant with pregnancy related illnesses/tiredness whatever.

They have to do everything in their power to make your working life managable with no risj to your pregnancy.

Go for that HR meeting it will be fine trust me
xx

they cant sack you while you are pregnant but if they can show that they have tried to accomodate you working part time but it will cost them more money/be too difficult then they can let you go, but i think that has to be after the pregnancy (although it may apply during pregnancy not sure)

No hun they arent allowed to sack you for anything remotely pregnancy relaated & if you ask for less hours they have to try to accommodate you xx

Should I speak to my boss first or bypass her and go straight to HR.

Came back Tues and really struggling, been up since 6am throwing up, keep having to shoot off to the toilet, got crampy pains, falling asleep by 1pm.

Friend saw me in the train station this morning, she said I looked shocking and like I was about to keel over and I shouldnt be putting my body through this stress when I have been told by my consultant I need to really be at home and not do anything at home ie no housework.

Feel I am letting people down though

u shouldnt feel bad for letting people down. Ur pregnant with triplets! ( congrats btw ) by law they have to make changes, if need be, to your job to accomodate you in the workplace whilst pregnant. i done a lot of looking in to this at some point lol, i have a simple shop job but i hardly do any of the same work as i used to now im pregnant xx

hope you dont mind me popping in here, i use the new posts button so i see posts across the whole forum not just ttc
Ive been following whats been happening to you and youve not really had the greatest of luck there have ypu?
They cannot sack you for anything pregnancy related. Fact. And if they do, set a tribunal on them, they will back right out of that because they would be in the wrong.

If your unwell, your unwell. Nothings worth risking the health of your 3 little ones. From the sounds of it they treat you like shit anyway, youve got far more patience than me because id have told them to stick their job up theyre ass.

Thanks girls.

I feel TERRIBLE and WANT to be at work as I need the money more than anything.

Yesterday I was 45 mins late due to delayed trains so by the time I got here I was nearly in tears with stress and the day before I got elbowed in the tummy by a woman on the bus.

I feel like all I am doing is CONSTANTLY moaning but I have yet to enjoy my pregnancy!

xx

Stay at home whilst you feel like that if that's what your consultant advises!

And when you feel ready to return to work you can discuss ways of coping... my manager spoke to personnel and they have referred me to occupational health nurse.

I think you hit the nail on the head when you said you have yet to enjoy your pregnanccy hon! Its not likely you will with the stress of work looming over you daily - although I understand the money situation can be just as stressful... I think offering to go part time is an excellent compromise.... although how would it effect your sick pay if you do have to take time off ( I know you only get statutory so would it be the same?).. If it would be the same - then really you have nothing to lose by asking and you could even ask your consultant to write a letter to back you up xx
