Lower back pain so early in pregnancy?

Hi everyone - just need some advice really.

Towards the end of the day, the bottom of my back really starts to hurt when I sit down. I can't really explain what it feels like but it's really low and quite painful when I sit. I spend quite a bit of time stood up at work, don't know if it's that or not but it seems to be getting worse. When I wake up in the morning it feels fine again.

Is this a bad sign of what's to come later in pregnancy?
I'm only 19 weeks tomorrow is it too early for back pain?

Sorry for the long story!

not too early i'm afraid. i had terrible back ache about 3 weeks ago - say week 17. not sure why. maybe i slept ina funny position, but i've also noticed that I get it if I stand up for too long.

Any chance you can take a break more often adn sit at work?

My back ache was really low down, like it was really weak or the spine was just under too much strain right at the bottom. urgh!!! what have we got to come?? Lets hope that our backs get used to it or strengthen??

I had some really bad back pain about the same time. It lasted a few weeks. It is not bothering me now. I did practice yoga, go to accupuncture and have a few massages to help it out.

My back pain started in about week 14! MW said it was due to ligaments softening and my pelvis moving!

At work I sit with a specialist lumber support which really helps, I also make sure that I sit/stand with a straight back. It still aches from time to time, just a nother joy of pregnancy to add to the list!!!

Back pain is normal. You might find that it comes in stages. Your body just about adjusts for the extra weight then you'll sprout again. But generally it does ease off, only to come again at a later stage..

Hope things feel better for you
