This is my 3rd pregnancy and I felt proper kicks a bit later than my previous pregnancies. It's not just the placenta position that effects it though, it's also the position of the baby. When he is facing my back I don't feel so much. When he is facing the front, I feel them lower down mostly because the placenta is towards the top in front.

The placenta doesn't actually *move* but as your uterus grows, the spot that it's in moves with your uterus as it grows. The reason I probably feel mine already is because the baby was the average size of a 21wk baby at my 19 wk scan.

I'm sure you will start feeling movement very soon. If you haven't felt anything in the next 2 weeks I would ask the midwife or doctor about it. Some babies are not as active as others. My first 2 weren't nearly as active as this one is. With them I would mostly feel slow stretching movements with an occasional kick here and there. (they liked to stretch their legs straight and bruise my ribs) This one never does the slow stretching thing but he's super active and kicks way more than they ever did!

It also seems like people who are more active don't notice kicks and such as early. I tend to sit for very long periods in the evening watching TV with a hand on my tummy. If you are busy a lot and don't have time to just sit and wait then it could take longer to notice it. (i just have no life at all)

HI,

I'm having the exact same thing, ok Iknow I'm only 17 weeks tomor, but my daughter was kicking at seventeen weeks and I felt the flutters with my son by thirteen/fourteen weeks.

I'm absolutely petrified as I also have spd pain and tummy pain, and whlst we've heard the heartbeat and seen the 12 week scan the doc did say it could be the tsart of a miscarriage, just cos he could find no other reason for my tummy pain.

I am a busy person, I rarely have time to think and also have alot on my plate right now, but even when I try and sit on he bed a chill, with a cold drink I can't feel the baby at all not even a fluttering. It's terrifying!

Its different for everyone and each pregnancy. The placenta doesn't move, but as your uterus grows and can get higher up (which you want).
