My friend had this same problem with her MIL, in regards to being in delivery room. Her mother and MIL had a massive fight... It's ridiculous! I would suggest not telling her whe your in labour... Or even only tell her when your in hospital and make sure they won't let her in...
Hope u can talk her out of staying for 2 weeks! Perhaps u can say your mother will be staying with you or something...

My MIL thought the same thing. I want just DH and I at the hospital. I don't want ANY visitors for at LEAST 24 hours after peanut is born so that the three of us can rest, and I don't want ANYONE at the house until we've been there alone for a least 24 hours. I honestly wouldn't mind my mom being there (and kinda want her to be), but to be fair to MIL I had to say I didn't want anyone there at all. I really dislike in-laws.

im guessing you mean my mum.

yes she knows im pregnant but doesnt seem to be bothered,i got married in september last year and she didnt come.
she hasnt even seen my wedding pictures.
i did say to her that i thought we would become closer with my wedding happening and even more so now when i have a baby on the way but she isnt bothered.
since i have been pregnant she has only sent me a text message once to see how im feeling.

oh well someone has to have a mother like her.

Ok it's been said numerous time but I agree with what everyones said here. You need to tell her.

I don't know what kind of a relationship you have with her. I know my MIL can go to hell before she thinks she's coming into the delivery room

But my mom too. I'm very close to my mom but the thought of having her there coaching me already gets under my skin. Luckily she knows I need space so she'll ask me before thinking she's welcome in the delivery room.

As for staying with you for 2 weeks... no. Sure they can come and help but it's your baby. Not hers. She's had her turn. I've seen new grandmothers completely take over and it's not right at all IMHO.
I'll allow visitors to stay for a couple of hours at a time but really I think I'm going to just want to curl up and hold my new baby all day. I think I'm going to be very clingy LOL.
