Rant! I'm 18 weeks pregnant and I still haven't had a chance to hear the HB!!!!

The first chance I got was when I had my booking in appointment which was fairly late (14 weeks) but she said it's too early to hear a heartbeat.

Second chance I got was when I was 16 weeks, but then my dating scan clashed with my midwife appointment so they cancelled my MW appt. On the plus side, I got to see bubs and the report said that heartbeat was strong.

Now I have to wait until the 26th Nov when I'll be over 19weeks to hear the heartbeat! So unfair!!

Awww, well at least you will get to hear it soon! I was lucky and the midwife got mine at my 13+2 appointment.

Hi,

She said 14 weeks was too early to hear the heartbeat? I don't think so! We had a scan at 8 weeks and the sonographer pointed out the heartbeat to us but week 10 she put it on the monitor for 3-4 seconds, said she could not put it on for us to hear for longer than that, I dont know why.

aww i can understand how frustrating it is for you love! at my 12 week dating scan i only got to hear the heartbeat for a couple of seconds then i saw baba for about 2 minutes - UNFAIR! My sister got to watch the whole thing when she was pregnant - then they turned the screen round and i couldn't see anymore I just want to know whats going on in there all the time haha.

xxxxxxxx

She rushed my Booking in Appt - literally filled in half of my green file and sent me home, and made another appt to visit me at home to finish them off. I think she just said it's too early as an excuse because she was in a rush to finish and leave. My bad luck I guess.

Was there any confusion over your dates at your booking in appt? Because 14 weeks is not too early to hear the HB. We heard our baby's HB at the 12 week scan

Sorry you've had to wait so long; but it will be worth it when you hear it

how frustrating, but think about it, only a few more days and you will hear your little ones heartbeat.

At the very least you should have been able to hear it on the ultrasound. That was the first time I heard it. However, I think 14 weeks is too early on the doppler as it's touch and go if you can hear/find the heartbeat or not. Is the doppler what she meant?
