Sciatica v Pelvic Girdle Pain

Over the past couple of weeks I have found it very uncomfortable to sleep at night, tossing and turning because my sides hurt.
Over the past week this pain has got worse at night, and is mostly only on one side, my right.
This morning I got up at 5am, well tried too, and discovered that I couldnt move, the pain was unbarable. I eventyally managed to get myself to the loo and went back to bed.
When I got up for work at 8.30 it was the same story, couldnt move, and was so painful to walk down stairs.
I have now googled this and it is either Sciatica or Peliv girdle pain, similar symptoms;
Shooting pains from my buttocks down the back of my leg/hamstring.
Pain when trying to turn over in bed
Leg feels like lead
Slight pain on right side of lower back.

I have appointment tomorrow morning with the doctor as I suffer lower back problems anyway due to bad posture, and Im very concerned it will only get worse.
Just sat here at work my right buttock hurts

I just want to get an idea of how other people coped with this as Im not sure how many more nights of NO SLEEP I can handle.
Plus I read about these pelvic belts, do they work?

Any advise/guidence before I see doc is greatly appriciated.

i posted a thread about this yesterday. I only get the pains at night or after walking, but it is particularly bad in bed. I get shooting pains down my left buttock and thigh, and it really is unbearable at times. If i have to get up in the night for a wee, it gets so painful and can bearly walk.

Someone said it sounds like sciatica, but when i reasearched, it said the symptoms of that are very similar to SPD or PGP. Im seeing my mw next week so im gunna tell her about it then. xx

I get both sciatic (have had it for a long time prior to pregnancy so I know the difference) and pelvic girdle pain. It's a joy, let me tell you! Stabbing achy pains down one side and then feeling like I've been kicked in the hooha on top of that!

Sciatica tends to be shooting pains down one leg especially when walking.

Spd pain tends to be in lower back, hips, inner thighs, and across pubic bone.

If u already have lower back probs anyhow weight of baby maybe making these worse.

I think a referral to physio is probably your best bet who will then assess you & be able to diagnose & treat accordingly.

If it is PGP thaen a pelvic belt is excellent, I have one & its a god send.

If its more weight of baby then a bump support band may help.

Doctors advise

Hi
Doc said it isnt sciatica, which I guess is a good thing.
She said its pelvic related, and needs to speak to midwife about phisio referral and/or getting a support belt etc.
Back is aching today, but I think thats becuase doctor was prodding it.
I did manage to get some sleep last night, but Doc recommended I take a couple of paracetamol late in the day then some just before bed to help ease any discomfort.
She said that those with past back issues are likely to get very bad symptoms during pregnancy, well it would appear she is right. But Im not one of those people that say 'live with it' because I cant. Its keeping me awake at night, and for someone with an improtant finacial management job (me) I cant be coming in to work like a zombie.

Hopefully will hear back today and can get the process started.
