Is it just me....

or have you worried about the way midwives feel your belly? Had my 2nd appointment today at just over 18wks and although the overall experience was lovely (listening to heartbeat etc) i didn't half feel uncomfortable with the way she was pressing into my stomach lol.
Of course i know it was completely safe and normal and she knew exactly what she was doing it just didn't feel nice, i kept thinking of the tiny baby getting squashed, prodded and pressed. Has anyone else felt like this at all?

It hurts when they push down really hard on your tummy I have visions of the babies being poked in the head and I want to cradle my tummy to protect them!!

I don't worry about it but I HATE it. It was a lot worse earlier on when they'd feel and especially try for the heartbeat with the doppler because they pressed so darn hard.

The last appointment they didn't press nearly as hard and the girl who did the doppler (was learning I think) didn't press hard at all.

Yeh its just damn uncomfortable. I have a high BMI apparently (I mean come on just call it fat! lol) so they have to press harder.
Had a 20 week apt with a registar who was saying that she needed to find my public bone - found it and then pressed REALLY hard on it to hold the tape. Its like "hello, its not going anywhere"
When its the MWs I just gotta pee really bad and then I get a kicking from baby to say not impressed

I've never worried about it, except for after my first u/s, which was at 10 weeks. I had mild cramping afterwards, and thought maybe something was wrong!
My OH is scared to push on my belly, which is the only way he's going to feel the kicks atm. He gets mad at me when I push on my belly to feel around. He thinks I'm squishing the baby, and that I'm going to hurt it.

Wow, I've never had anyone press down like that on my tummy when I'm pregnant. They measure, listen with the doppler and maybe do a pelvic exam if i complain of any pain. The only time they've ever pressed down on my belly with any pressure at all was after the baby was born to see if my uterus was shrinking. Even when they are feeling for the top of my uterus to measure me, they touch very lightly.

What are they feeling for when they press on you so hard?

I'm not totally certain but I'm pretty sure that the doctor said they were feeling for the uterus when they pressed on their like that. Don't quote me though, I've some dumb "doctor's in training" lately.
