Anyone loving their bump but also resenting it?

Hey,

Having a little attack of the unmaternal. Don't know whether it's due to being busy at work or what. I'm so happy to be pregnant and all that but just feeling a bit like I wish it would hurry up (18 weeks this week).

Well apart from being busy at work it is highly likely that hubby will need an operation on his back for a slipped disc he's had for the past year but has only being diagnosed. He's not allowed to lift or walk the dogs and I shouldn't be either but although I take it as easy as possible some things have to be done. (We have 2 big dogs so they are a little problematical when I walk them and I don't have the same strength I used to, to hold them)

I'm a very independent person who likes to get things done and am feeling the limitations of pregnancy not being able to walk as far, jog with the dogs lift things, dig my allotment for winter etc so maybe this is where some of the resentment comes from.

At the same time as being independent though I love hubby looking after me and am feeling abit like at this time when he should be doing this i'm having to take care of him.

Anyone else becoming less attached to bump and is this natural?

x

I wouldn't say I'm less attached, but I've found myself getting frustrated lately with not being able to do things I think I should be able to do. I can't walk as far or for as long with my dog anymore, having to take more frequent breaks and dawdle along when I am walking. I found myself having to turn sideways to get wet laundry out of the washing machine yesterday, and I threw a (very small!) tantrum and got upset because I tried to carry some chairs up out of the basement only to find that it was too awkward and that I just didn't have the energy for it...I know it's only going to get worse but I'm resigned. It is what it is and in the end it'll all be worth it!

I think its a symptom of parent hood. By the sounds of what my freinds say they all have days where they want to scream at thier kids - maybe this is just an early onset of that feeling, and rather unsurprising given your circumstances at the moment.

Try not to worry - everyone has bad days where they'd really like things to just be 'easy'!!

Oh yeah, I think it's natural to feel a bit unenthusiastic at times about your bump. I'm also thrilled to be pregnant and excited for the baby, but also find the limitations to my physical endurance and movements to be annoying. Just lately I've noticed I've gotten winded after a short time doing the things I used to do with no problem, like simple household chores or the walk up to school for my son. I have more stuff to do than I'm able to get done energywise.
