Amoxicillin/Cluvanic acid

Hi girls,

For those that don't know, im living in France at the moment, its not ideal but I cant come back til january anyway i'd been having lower back ache, painful urination and a green snotty discharge so i phoned my midwife at home who said it sounded like a water infection and to get antibiotics from a doctor here asap. After much faffing and hassle ive seen a doctor here and explained as best i could - making sure he knew i was pregnant - and hes given me boxes of sachets of amoxicillin/cluvanic acid. Does anyone know if its safe to take? I suppose he wouldnt have prescribed them if they weren't but i want to double check before making up these drinks 3 times a day for 8 days!!?! I'm going to check with the midwife tomorrow too, but just wondering if anyones taken this, or what were you given for your water/bladder infection?? Would amoxicillin by itself in drug form be better? PLEASE HELP! i really want to get this sorted once and for all and ive had such a stressful day lol
xx

I don't know if this is helpful, and I think you should wait until you've asked the midwife so it's not my fault if anything happens to you...

but I was prescribed amoxicillin by my dentist (after they checked with the doctor) and was told it's safe to take in pregnancy. I took it, and this was weeks ago and nothing bad happened.

Check out this website, safefetus.com. It gives you an idea of whats safe for use during pregnancy. I'd go with what the doctor says ultimately.

I too have been given Amoxycillin for a chest infection and also for a water infection (tablet form), I have been told by two different doctors and my midwife that it is safe for baby. I would always check with a doctor first, but in my experience, it is safe.
