Can't sleep on my back, sides nor my front!

I am in a pickle! I cannot sleep on my sides because i get such bad heartburn, I can't sleep on my front as my bump gets in the way, and the only position i can sleep in that eases my heartburn is on my back .... which i am lead to believe that you cannot do in pregnancy!

So what do i do? I am drinking gaviscon like there is no tommorrow, it doesnt work. I am so tired! i need some sleep!

If your heartburn is really bad, go to your doctors and they may give you something more than Gaviscon. My doctor did as I was at the end of my tether and needed some sleep and it has really helped!!
Good luck XX

I get heartburn EVERY night before and during bed time. I sleep on my back i cant help it, if i sleep on my sides i automatically wake up on my back. I am eating bisodol tabs like no tomorrow. i should go to doc as the heartburn sometimes makes me vomit acid. :S:S:S i didnt know the doc can give something extra for heartburn, thats good cause i have to go to the doc for routine visit in a week.

The stuff he has given me is called Omerprazole, it reduces the production of acid in your stomach. My doctor had never given it to a pregnant woman before but when he looked at it he could not see a reason not to give it to me. It says in the instructions to take one tablet daily or 2-4 weeks but my doctor said to take it for 3-4 days at a time then stop and only start again when I really need it. I was prescribed them back on the 16th Oct and have only taken 4 tablets so far, trying to hold out till its inbearable before taking them again but they did really work and pretty much immediately!!!

Wow they gave you omeperazol, wouldnt have thought you could have that while pregnant, good dr you got for looking into that.....I suffered sever heartburn when I was carrying my dd, I tried all sorts of things and it wouldnt stop it. In the end I worked out what it was that was giving me heart burn and stopped eating and drinking it lol......I would deff try sleeping propped up slightly, that can help with all sorts of things too......

Try having something to eat as its meant to be worse on an empty stomach with gaviscon if the milk curdles in your stomach.

You can't sleep flat on your back when you get to a certain size as it makes you feel a bit dizzy and like you have been holding your breath. But you could try getting a few pillows and sleeping semi upright on your back.
