16 Week Appt... What to Expect?

Hey lovelys! I've got my 16 week appointment with my midwife on wednesday, and and I'm just really not to sure what to expect! I was just wondering if anyone could tell me what to expect? Thanks in advance girlys xxxx Alice

Hiya,

My 16 week check was very quick...checked urine sample, did blood pressure, asked how i was feeling and then the best bit was hearing baby's heart beat for the first time!

I was supposed to have feedback from bloods taken but they weren't there and she told me to ring up about swine flu when the docs were getting the vaccine in. That was all for me, hope this helps x

thanks love. Been told that i have to speak to her about my back pain, i've been having really bad back ache since about a month or so ago =[ xxx

Mine consisted of:

- weight check
- blood test (triple test)
- urine sample
- feeling my tummy for size of uterus
- used doppler to check heartbeat
- blood pressure
- general chat
- booked 24 week appointment

Hope that helps! Lasted about 10-15 minutes.

you'll get ur bloods taken if u want screening tests for down syndrome

thanks guys! mandzzz I already had the blood test for the downs syndrome, I had it right after my scan where they did the nuchal measurement.

Mine was super-quick also. Weigh-in, blood pressure, listening to the baby's heartbeat, and feeling for the size of the uterus. It maybe took 10 minutes - I was surprised.

Oh, and we recorded the heartbeat on my OH's phone. We listen to it every few days!

Mine was pointless. 5 minutes. Uring check, blood pressure check, hearbeat check, quick question how I am feeling, out the door

No weight check, no second check on my bp which was borderline high, no going over my bloods or results, no discussion on spina bifida (which runs in my family and said she'd go over at 16 weeks)

Pretty disappointing really. Sorry
