We are getting a cot-bed too, it makes more sense to me to buy something that will last more than 12 months. I would probably be less bothered about the cot and nursery as a whole if I was having the baby in our room at first but since I am off into the nursery it needs doing.

Yeah we are having the baby in with us the first few months so we are not rushing to get it done. we have started it well when I say started it I mean my OH has started putting the floor down. we moved into this house a year and a half ago and it was a total blank canvas. Once the floor has been put down we will paint and get bits and bobs as we find them. At the moment we are just pricing. I think my OH got freeked out at the prices of things in Mothercare but I was quick to point out that that was prob one of the most expensive shops

with you there bingles, mothercare is so expensive.

I mean for example, we bought my daughter a 3 pack of sleepsuits in there when she was born (3 years ago) it cost £12! A Pack of 3 in tesco was a) prettier b) washed better and c) only cost £6. Guess where I am gettin mine this time

Asda are the saints of the baby world

I think it is something about men wanting to start with the DIY in the room, lol. We want to buy things as we go along so the cost is not as much of a shock. Mothercare has some some nice things but yes I do think it is a really expensive shop. My list of cheap places (although I do not plan to buy from all of them) is: Ikea, ASDA direct, Tesco direct, e-bay, Wilkinsons plus and Argos for some things.

oh and just to add - next sleepsuits have not enough room for babys feet! Toe curl up job!

Matalan is also really good, they have their own range of changing mats etc too and are really cheaply prices, I think the one I seen was £6 last week xx
