My cousin has just done her daughters nursery from the Ikea range of baby furniture and it is beautiful. (she got the pine look one) I dont think it cost alot either, wish I had gone there. Im reusing from my first so suppose technically Im doing it very cheap this time

Ikea do cot matresses at much more reasonable prices than mothercare etc and they have alot to choose from feature wise as well.

All the main furniture I am getting is from Ikea, I was going to get white but I am getting birch now. I was going to get blue or pink things and paint but am getting naturals now.

ASDA have some really well priced things too!

We are doing semi-co sleeping with the sorta-crib next to the bed deal. Hows that for baby brain? I cannot remember what it is called.

It's a little weird when folks ask me how my nursery is coming (don't want to explain co-sleeping to everyone), but thinking of the cost savings helps!

Good luck finding things on the cheap. Seems like so much baby stuff is so spendy. Shouldn't it be cheaper since it is smaller? lol!

I think baby things are like wedding cakes and flowers, they charge more because they can. Thank goodness for Ikea, ASDA direct, e-bay and to a lesser extent Argos! Lol.

Yep, ours is going to be cheap. Using an existing set of drawers, a hand me down cot, no wardrobe as there's a great big built in cupboard in the room, and a hand me down chair for nursing. My mum's going to make me some curtains. Can't see the point of spending loads.

Good idea about your mum making the curtains! I can not find cheap curtains and all of the ones I can find are not quite what I was hoping for.

When Aaron was born we got everything for his room for about £50! The cot was a family heirloom that my grandmother and mother slept in so we just had to buy a new mattress, we got a wardrobe from freecycle, and a set of plastic storage drawers for his clothes (although when he was tiny the clothes took up so little space that we just kept them in a wicker basket)! We did eventually have to replace the old cot with a new cotbed that we got cheap as it was ex-display.

This time we'll need a new cot once the baby isn't sleeping in our room anymore and possibly some more storage for clothes. I'm planning to visit my local hospice shop as they have some gorgeous old solid wood furniture there and if we keep an eye out we'll probably manage to pick up a chest of drawers for less than £20.
