Quick Question

I am getting my first ultrasound tomorrow and if baby cooperates we will find out the sex. Everyone keeps telling me that I will have to drink this flavored stuff before they do anything but no one at the doctor's office has told me anything about it. Should I call there and ask? I don't want to get there tomorrow and them be like.... well we can't do the scan because you were supposed to drink that stuff. For all I know, I am just supposed to have a full bladder. I'm not seeing my regular doctor because he is out of town, but he didn't want to make us wait any longer. What would you do?

Well in im from the UK so i'm sure its different over there. We don't HAVE to drink anything but they ask that your bladder is full so that it pushes the baby further up in the womb.

Good luck

I don't think there's anything you have to drink, the only thing I do know you have to drink a flavored drink for is the glucose test. I also don't think you have to have a full bladder (you can always call and double check that though), even at my 13 week scan I didn't have a full bladder and they had no problems finding the baby.

You don't have to drink anything although I was told not to empty my bladder for an hour before my scan and I found out the sex and baby was really clear on the scan

I was told I had to drink 2 pints of water 1 hour before I go for a scan. Although so far due to bad morning sickness I have had an empty bladder and they had no problems.

I had a GTT done a few weeks ago and I had to drink a flavoured drink then. This is the only time I was told about the flavoured drink.

Thanks ladies. I think I'll give the doc's office a ring to make sure, but I think they would have told me if I had to drink anything. I appreciate your help as always. Have a wonderful day.
