it was the same for me i didnt see my midwife for about 9 weeks it was from about 17 weeks till about 26 weeks, apparently too many women preggy and not enough midwife's they did how ever tell me that i would be haing my 20 week scan in between so i if there is a prob there i wouldnt have to wait that long they would see me before. if your worried about it love you should say they cant denie seeing you or near me we have drop in centre with midwifes and you dnt need an appointment. maybe you could go there find out what day it is on. you can go every week if it makes you feeel better. they dont mind. if not just ring the doc and speak to receptionist and book appointment for midwife they will just book you in tell them you want it for 4 weeks time. they cant not see you its there job and i would tell them what you want at appointments i told them they had to listen to LO heartbeat, so they did they have to do what you want ( where it is possibe anyway) and listening to heartbeat takes a few mins and is poss. stand up for your rights hun.

At scan, the ultrasound technician sees the heartbeat though eh? I haven't heard my baby's heart beat yet but the u/s woman said "nice strong heartbeat" at my 12 week scan so it must be true! lol I don't expect to see my midwife till after my 20 week scan but I have got her mobile number and although I've only spent about 10 mins in total with her so far she has said to call anytime if I have any questions. If you've got her contact number give her a call and say you're concerned. I'm looking forward to the whole heartbeat thing and am thinking of doing same myself. I'll tell her I'm concerned, she'll have me in and then listen to heartbeat. It's what my friend said to do and she's had 2 with same midwives.

We saw the midwife at 17 weeks yesterday, we have our 20 week scan in three weeks, then we don't see the midwife until week 24 so it's kinda the same for us. We see the doctor in between the scan and midwife though.

Hun i think it depends on where u live.

I saw my midwife at my first appointment then had my scan at 12 weeks didn't see my midwife until about 15-16 weeks then she didn't want to see me until i was 25 weeks but that was because of my scan in the middle of that and she did tell me that, then it was 6 weeks now its 4 weeks i don't see my midwife for unless i have a problem, then think it stays at every other week. Depending on the midwifes as well some of them will check the heart beat at 16 weeks some of them wouldn't purley for the fact the baby is too far down for them to try and get the heart beat so they don't want to worrie people. My midwife checked the baby's heatbeat at 16 weeks but she did warn me that she might not be able to fine it.

Are you seeing a consultant as well hun? If you are they will check the heart beat as well, and u usually see them after your 20 week scan or just before it.
