My Placenta is positioned too low

I had my 19 week scan yesterday and found out that my placenta is low. My cervix is fine, my baby is fine, so I'm not worried about it.

I just wanted to know, what are the causes of that happening? Is it me not resting much? or carrying bags etc... Or is it because of the baby, how she's aligned in my uterus.

Ever since I became pregnant, I find myself doing everything.

I'm not lazy and I don't want to be lazy. Sometimes I feel I can do everything. I walk fast, and I'm always on the move. I feel if I stop I'm missing out on what I have to take care of, and I won't let my husband do it.

So now I feel bad, and blame myself for having a low lying placenta.

I did my research about low lying placentas. A women can possibly have a C-section, she can't have no-sex, she has to get daily check ups to see if (placenta) moves, bed rest and more..

The only thing I feel bad about, is not resting much. I'm not worried about the situation though.

If anyone has experience this, please share what happened to you.

Thanks,

Mello

Hey-

At my 20 week scan, I was told that I had a low-lying placenta and even though it wasn't extremely low, I had to go back in four weeks to check it. The doctor told me that it was nothing that I had done and that sometimes these things just happen. She said not to worry about it and probably in four weeks, my placenta would rise and be where it was supposed to be at. And sure enough, when I went back for my second ultrasound, the placenta was no longer low and everything was perfect as it should be. So even though, I'm still unsure about why these things happen, I'm sure you will be fine! I wouldn't even think at all that it was something you did.

Hey Jenny,

Thanks for the comfort.

I've read that a lot of girls in weeks 18 to 24 have low lying placentas, but it does change as the uterus grows.

Thanks,

Mello

There is nothing you can do to cause or prevent a low-lying placenta. It has to do with where the fertilized egg implanted in the first place - which you cannot affect.

Dont blame yourself! And usually, low-lying placentas move up as the uterus grows.
