Anyone else have ovarian cyst?

I have one measuring 6cm by 7cm and it showed up on very first scan. Was still there when I had 2nd scan too. Sonographer didnt seem worried, said because it was high up, it shouldn't affect the birth in any way but would now be getting more and more squashed! I'm just wondering if anyone has experienced them before and did they ever disappear or did you need surgery to remove it?xx

I have one...started off at 8cm but is shrinking slightly. I was admitted to hospital at 7 weeks as they initially thought it was a second pregnancy that was ectopic as it looked like there was a sac in it... Turns out it is a cyst with fluid in it. They are keeping an eye on it and said I'd probably feel unconfortable down there but not to worry. If it doesn't shrink lots then they will remove it post delivery. Don't panic Hun, they are really common x

I have one on each ovary and get a little bit of pain from them. My consultant said that if they are still there at the end of my pregnancy they will drain them during my c-section (due to previous section)!!

hey, they are quite common so dont panic!

I havent had one, but my mum has had two. She had one removed about 5 years ago, then another one appeared. They 'kept an eye' on it, but ended up having to removing her left ovary as the cyst had twisted and killed it.

After u have had baby please please please dont let them just get away with 'its fine, if u get any pain come back bla bla bla' make sure they check and if u can get it removed - its like day admittance in hospital and a week recovery (i know would be hard with a newborn but better safe than sorry hey)
xx

Hiya isobelhh x

I have suffered with ovarian cysts with every1 of my pregnacies and i have one this preg to , when im preg then the hormones makes it grow, mine is quite big measuring 10cm by 11cm so a fair size and has alot of fluid in it to im under consultant led care so bein scanned alot prob every 4-6weeks their keepin an eye on the size and makin sure its not growing anyfin as some can grow obnormal fings.

The main fing is its not in the way of the birthing canal and so far its not however i still have 4mths left and if it moves it cud stop babies head from comin down the canal if this happened i wud need a c section so its not all doom and gloom they dont cause majoy probs x

As for ur question about any probs or surgery yes in 2007 i was rushed to hospital with awful pain and it was coz my cyst had grown and twised and also it gave me a urine infection so i had to have it drained they said if it came bk i wud have to have it removed as mine seem to get a big size, but i havent had any more surgery since 2007, however its bein discussed after this birth coz i get them alot.

In my 1st pregnancy baby popped it around 32wks 2nd and 3rd preg they just went of their own accord.

Only prob they cause is slight pain during sleep and as i get bigger some days are ok but other days i can be in pain but i tend not to moan and just fink of my lil man at the end of it x

sorry this post is soooooo long hope it helps x

I have one as well which they said is the size of a golf ball. Don't know what that is in cm or anything though. That's one of the main reasons I get my second scan at 19 weeks so they can check to see if it needs to be dealt with or not before I hit 20 weeks. It hasn't caused me any pain or anything though which I think surprised them a little bit.

I'm hoping it goes away on it's own and doesn't rupture as I read that it's excruciating pain! However, they are quite common, something like 1 in 10 pregnancies have them I think I read

I have one on my left ovary. They found it at my first appointment. During my second scan it was still there. I have my 20 week scan in two weeks and my dr gave me orders to have them look at it then. I'm hoping that it is gone. I'll let you know when I find out in 2 weeks.

Hi hun, My neighbour had several when she was pg and they grew with the pregnancy, she was monitored to keep an eye on them. She went into labour at home and things happened very quickly and I had to deliver the baby, and even in these unusual circumstances all was fine. She did have surgery to remove one of them which was extremely large when her ds was about 8 months old. x
