decreased appetite

Hi Ladies--

I was a frequent poster during my first trimester but i've been away from the forums for a bit. I'm now at 17w4d, and I've noticed a decrease in my appetite the past few days. Is this something I should be concerned about?

All of my appointments have gone so smoothly...my last one was at 16w3d and the heartbeat was going strong. Ultrasounds have all looked good. But I can't help being concerned about not being as hungry. I'm still hungry, but I'm not finding myself ravenous every two hours like I did before. Is this the normal "nothing's normal" in pregnancy thing, or should I be worried?

Thanks!
Sara

How decreased has your appetite been? I'm not a doctor or anything, but I think you are fine as long as you are eating enough for you and the baby to stay healthy. I know that some days I feel hungier than others. Sounds like all your visits sound normal and that the baby is doing fine. If you are really concerned and just need to be reassured, give your MW a ring just to ease your mind.

I find I have times where I am really hungry all the time, and others not so much. Sometimes I just am not that hungry in the evening. I still try to eat something. I trust my body to let me know what it and the baby needs.

DH says the same thing...but it helps to hear other people confirm that appetite, like everything else in pregnancy, varies.

I definitely haven't *lost* my appetite...still hungry more than I was pre-pregnancy, just not as hungry as i was a week ago.

Thanks ladies!

Remember the baby's needs also change. I know that there is a big growth spurt at 24-26 weeks. Man I felt it. A few days before I hit 24 weeks I was just hungry, all the time. I would eat and an hour later I would be hungry again. Now I am back to my normal eating.

My appetite has decreased a lot as well. I can now go for 2-3 hours without feeling the need to eat something quickly!

I had a check up last week, and have still managed to put on 2kg since my last appt in January, and the doc wasn´t concerned at all. If anything she said to try and curb my weight gain as I should be aiming for a total gain of 12kg.

Some days I have forced myself to eat something, as by teatime I´d suddenly realise I´d only eaten breakfast and a sandwich for lunch! I´m not worried about it though, like someone else said, a huge growth spurt is coming our way, so I reckon my appetite will pick up again then.

My appetite is the same. I get hungry more often, but eat less. It might be due to the baby squishing your stomach. Probably nothing to worry about.

Whoops. That sounds confusing. I mean that my appetite has decreased too.

Same Here

I am 16w5d and noticed a decrease in my appetite as well. Just the past 3 weeks, the need to eat something every 2-3 hours has disappeared.
