I find it disgusting that we women should have to defend ourselves from nosy jerks who feel entitled to comment on our bodies when we are at our most vulnerable.
It's bad enough that we are constantly told we are not thin enough, not athletic enough, not tall enough, not beautiful enough--now, when we are growing another human being in our body and should feel comfortable eating basically whatever we want (within reason and as long as it's nutritious most of the time), jealous women and insensitive men try to make us feel insecure about our weight! Pregnancy is not a time to be counting calories, ladies--but god forbid you should focus on your health and not how you look to other people.
My usual response has been, "I'm pregnant--what's your excuse?", which I follow with a critical stare at their body. Hey, if you're going to insult me, I will happily send some back your way. Just because I'm pregnant doesn't mean my body is open for discussion. Mind our own business or be prepared to face a tongue-lashing from a hormonal, angry pregnant woman!
Sorry for the rant but this drives me crazy, especially since I've been feeling huge at only 14 weeks. >
