USA flu jab - not the swine flu one

is it true that in the states the encourage/advise/recommend that women with child take the normal seasonal flu shot?

if this is the case then i don't see the big issue with the h1n1 strain flu shot?

We're recommended to get both. The h1n1 kind is a different strain than the regular flu shot. The nurse I talked to yesterday said that the regular flu shot has some of the same strain that the h1n1 shot in it so it may not be as big of a deal if the h1n1 shot isn't gotten. I think.

I had my regular flu jab in September when they first came out. Because of our location (in the middle of nowhere) I haven't had the opportunity to get the H1N1. However, my docs did say that because I'm in good health and the baby is in good health, there is no reason to worry if I did get it. They did recommend calling in for tamiflu tho, just to lessen the symptoms and shorten the length of time.

My doctor advised me to get both, but I've only gotten the regular flu shot. Fortunately, I called enough pharmacies to find out that they offer one that does not have mercury in it, and choose to get that one. One less thing in the body... no? From what I understand, me having a flu shot now helps protect our baby when he is born later.. and with him coming in January, I figured that it would be a good idea to get one...

I had originally decided to get both the flu and h1n1 shot, but after further consideration, I don't feel that it has been around long enough to know fully the ramifications of having it put into my body. I've changed my mind mostly because I would hate to have something wrong with our little one and never know if that was a cause or not. I feel like it has been rushed to the market, and to be honest, I just don't know enough about it to take a chance.

My midwives advise to get both flu shots and I will. Right now they only have the regular flu shot. I was hoping to just get them both at the same time, but I may go ahead and get the regular one while I wait for them to get the H1N1.

Yes I've been told by my doctor that they recommend both flu shots. And I'll be getting them on my next visit. Although I've heard you can get the mercury free kind, and I'll ask for that.

I have gotten my regular flu shot, but the H1N1 shot is hard to come by around here...
