4D scans

Hii'm 20 weeks pregnant and considering a 4d scan, i was hoping to hear from other mum's who have experiencedd this and what are their thoughts, i'm in 2 mind i think it is hubby who wants to go more than i do, i have a friend who had this scan almost 18 months ago and said she enjoyed the experience but was disappointed with some of the pictures because of the way th baby led his cord was in front of his face, which is a risk i suppose you have to take, but at £160 its an expensive disappointment!

Then my sister said she would be freaked out with seeing what your baby looks like before he/she arrives and said it would spoil the surprise so now i'm in 2 minds as i can remember seeing my daughter for the first time and thinking wow! and then i think should i do it cos hubby wants to, or for the experience and if i don't enjoy it and we go to have more babies don't do it again!!

I'm having one on Saturday. I know alot of babies look completely different to their 4d scan but how cool is it to see them in there? I'm excited about it

Oh, and some places, if the babies in a bad position, they'll let you come back for another appointment

i had one done at 29wks... it was amazing! it cost £99 i got 3 pics, 10min dvd, 52 pics on cd rom and a 30min appointment. you dont have to find out the sex if you dont want to. we saw her suck her thumb, smile, blink and kick herself in the head lmao!
i did feel when i first looked at my daughter that i had already seen her before and like i already knew her.
best advise is to wait till your around 28-30wks then baby will have more fat on it and better pics etc.
worth every penny.

i got two 4d pics as part of a routine scan, they were lovely , they are not clear enough to know exactly how the baby looks, but clear enough to see an actual baby. they were amazing and i love them. but like i said i didnt pay for it. if i had had to pay i dont think i would have done it, just coz i could use that money on something for when the baby comes, but if money isnt an issue.. its a lovely treat!

4d scans/private scans were not available here in Canada around 5 years ago during my last pregnancy. Imagine my surprise to hear they are now...and you can bet I will be taking advantage of it in the next couple of months

My DH is interested in getting one done. Do you know if it's a routine part of the 20 week scan or do you have to pay for it and how much??

I loved having a sexing scan as they also did a 4D viewing which was cool. Although looking at some of the pictures in the waiting room some look quite scary as the baby isn't fully developed and has chunks missing on the face etc :S
