I have not personally read into the study on immunizations. And I am not sure if you are saying that sometimes they give a bunch at birth? And that can lead to autism? If so.. from what I can remember with both my boys.. neither of them got anything at the hospital. They just went at 4 weeks and so on for the immunizations. I immunize my kids but I have a friend that has not done any.. and she doesn't use medicine AT ALL. So.. there is always someone out there that will have reasons for what they do. I don't think anyone can tell you what to do with your body or your children.
As for the diabetes test.. it's nothin hun! Just drink the drink and get your blood taken. No biggie. I am sure that if you are feeling good, your little one is fine. NO worries!!! Good luck!

I have my glucose test about the same time as well. I am not really worried about it, I feel just fine, and if it turns out I do have gestational diabetes, then I will know and can change my diet to deal with it.

As for the other question, no idea either!

I know lots of people worry about giving their babies immunisation. There's been lots of research in the past 10 years to see if there is any link between the two and round the world, virtually all researchers are in agreement that autism is not caused by vaccines. (I can say this coz I work in brain research in a Uni). The misunderstanding has come about because most kids in the UK are given the MMR vaccine (measles, mumps & rubella) at the age of 2, which also happens to be the age when autism becomes apparent. Kids develop autism whether or not they have been vacinated- its mostly down to genetics. I would be more worried about my baby cathing measles - which can lead to very nasty complications - even death and when my baby gets to that age I will definitely have it vaccinated.

They're also going to do the first internal check since my first appointment (checking cervical competency/preterm labor stuff). So that's going to be a LOVELY day.

I don't remember ever having this with DD1, but I guess if I did, it made a huge impact on me huh!?

Anyway, only 5-10% of pregnant women even have GD so I'm hoping we're both gonna breeze through this thing.

As far as the immunization thing goes, I had the undesirable pleasure to go to a childrens hospital where little kids were experiencing some of these childhood diseases because their parents wouldn't have them immunized. The pain and terror and crap these kids go through was enough to persuade me to immunize my children even though there are some risks. (I've not been convinced of the link between autism and immunizations but thats JMHO.)

Immunizing kids - just like everything else a parent needs to decide is the parents choice.

Yah it's if us pregnant mommies have gestational diabetes. The baby starts to produce a lot of hormones during weeks 25-30 that make it harder for mama's body to regulate blood sugar. So they "challenge" our system to handle the glucose and see if we pass.

I had a glucose test (GTT) done last month. I wasn't allowed to eat or drink anything from 9pm the night before. I had to have a blood test taken when I got there and then had to drink a jug of Lucozade then went back 2 hours later for a second blood test. I got the results the following morning which were normal (no gestational diabeties). I also have to go back at the end of march for another GTT.
