Hi everyone i know its probably a bit of a silly question but, my OH has chicken pox at the mo but not all over only a segmant of his body, is it safe for us to sleep in the same bed while he has it, iv had it before but worried about bump? xx
If you've had chicken pox before then yes, if no then the doctor will probably tell you to stay away from him because getting chicken pox early in your pregnancy can cause problems for the baby.
Pregnant women who have a history of a previous chicken pox infection or who have been immunized have antibodies to the virus. These antibodies are transferred to the infant through the placenta throughout the pregnancy. Therefore, pregnant women who are immune and are exposed to someone with chicken pox do not need to worry about complications for themselves or their infant.
A baby being infected by chicken pox even when Mummy is not immune, is very rare and minimal. x
