Yes love, paracetamol is fine to take at the recommended daily dosage. I have suffered from severe migraines since becoming pregnant and if ordinary paracetamol doesn't touch the headache, then you can safely take something with codeine in it like Solpadeine. Perfectly safe and ok'd by my GP.

Hope you feel better soon. There's nothing like a bad headache to make you feel miserable.

Paracetemol are absolutely fine to take...I have about 1 a day at the moment when I get a headache.

I also take co-codemol (mike of paracetemol and codiene) when i have a gall stone attack. Unfortunately this is the strongest pain relief we can have!

I just want to mention that you do want to avoid most other painkillers, namely any anti-inflammatories such as aspirin and ibuprofen.

Also, there's no evidence that paracetamol is harmful, but you do want to minimize your intake because it also has not been proven to be safe; so they generally recommend taking the smallest possible dose to do the job, and try not to take it on a frequent basis.

I've had some headaches (as well as some bad muscle pain) off and on over the last several weeks, but typically it was nothing I couldn't live with, but this past Saturday I had an awful headache all day long so I gave in and took a paracetamol - it was like magic! It made me wonder if it was more effective because I hadn't had any in like 5 months.

A note for my fellow North Americans on the board: Paracetamol = acetaminophen (Tylenol). Funny that we have different generic names for the same drug, but there you have it.
