I'm 23 weeks...measuring at 28 weeks!

Does anyone know if this is sort of normal? At 20 weeks the stenographer said the baby weighs 1lb and a few ounces. Usually baby doesn't weigh a pound until 23 weeks to 24 weeks. When my GP measured my belly today I measured at 28 weeks! She said she was going to order an ultrasound next time if my belly didn't measure out. She felt around my tummy and said I have a very active baby and it seems he is just going to be a "big baby."

I"M SCARED TO DEATH! I really do NOT want to push out an 8 pounder. I have a petite frame and I'm scared all my womanly parts are going to DESTROYED!!!! Any advice??? anyone???

8lber? Ahaha, my dear that's not big. Somebody on here recently had a 13lber (c-section though). I suspect that you could be looking at a bit bigger than 8lbs if your GP lets you go to your due day. Or he may change the dates a bit and induce you early.

the same thing happened to me, at my 20 week scan the doctor measured my baby at 19 weeks, then at my 22 week appointment with the doctor, he measured my belly with the tape measure and got 24 weeks. I was a bit curious about this, i wonder what its all about. My doctor didnt seem to worried about it though.

It's all relative though, she looks tiny so 8lbs would probbaly be big for her! I don't think I'd of manage to cook a 8lber either tbh.

Anyway, determining size of babyw hilst theyre in the womb is really just guesswork and a lot of the time they're wrong anyway lol. Don't worry!

At a scan yesterday my son was estimated at just under 2lbs at 22+6. This was important because it meant if I DID have him right now they would still try and save him because of his size. He is bigger than most 23 weekers but they are not changing my dates until after my GTT at 27 weeks, if I have GD then my dates will remain, if I dont they MIGHT POSSIBLY change my dates or just keep having me back for growth scans. If he stays as he is at full term he is likely to be over 10lbs and I still plan to have a natural homebirth (I am 5'8 and weigh 10stone 3lbs right now)
my son was 8lb13oz and I had no problem with him at all. He had been predicted to be 7lb-7lb5oz so they were WAY off.

8lb generally isnt a problem for anyone, even petite people, the average baby is now almost 8lb.

Nothing too much you can do about having a big baby hun. I do imagine though that if the baby becomes too big too early they will take take him early OR perform a c-section once you are full term. Hope that bit of info helps.
