I'm Currently Feeling: | It's kind of strange the way they calculate it isn't it? You are really pregnant for 9 1/2 months. But there is a difference between the actual gestational age of the baby and the the week you are in your pregnancy. Since they can only estimate your due date (via your last period) and you don't usually ovulate and implant until a few weeks after, the gestational age of the baby is 2 weeks younger than will show on your ticker, if that makes any sense at all? Like I'm 15 weeks pregnant, but the gestational age of the baby is 13 weeks. So counting by the tickers you are pregnant for 40 weeks=ten months, but when you subtract 2 weeks for the gestational age you are pregnant for 9 1/2 months. It's so confusing!!
I hope I made sense If not maybe one of the others can explain it better. |

I'm Currently Feeling: | abbie we are the same, im 19 wks due end of june like you
so yes we are in our fifth month of pregnancy, or almost 5 full months pregnant.
as vickie said the baby is actually two weeks "younger" than how man wks preggers u are becasue they count it from your last period. i had a whole thread about this coz i was really confused took me ages to figure it out.

I'm Currently Feeling: | There's another way of looking at it.
40 weeks preg
Approx 4 weeks in a month
10 x 4 = 40 week
Which makes it approx 10 months.
I've prob just confused everyone even more now!!! |

I'm Currently Feeling: | The average pregnancy is 266 to 280 days from the first day of your LAST PERIOD.
266 days / 7 days in a week = 38 weeks
280 days / 7 days in a week = 40 weeks
38 weeks / 4 weeks in a month = 9.5 months
40 weeks / 4 weeks in a month = 10 months
So the average pregnancy lasts 9.5 to 10 months from the first day of your last period.
But as everyone said, you ovulate and conceive sometime (usually around 14-20 days AFTER the first day of your last period).
So your baby is actually 14-20 days YOUNGER than the numbers above because they couldn't have existed until the egg met the sperm 14-20 days after your first day of your last period.
Does that help? |
