sleeping positions

whatever i do I always seem to end up laying slightly on my belly...i try to stay on my side but I roll over. Is this bad for baby?I wake up and have to assess how much of my belly is squashed.
I find laying entirely on my side uncomfy!

I also remember reading that we shouldnt sleep on our backs? I find this oh so comfy sometimes....surely it's just bad for me - back? - and not baby is it?

Thanks for your advice.

Trust me you will know when you can't sleep on your tummy anymore, it will be uncomfortable.

As for your back, at this point I would not worry at all. My midwife also told me that it will make me uncomfortable long before it would be a problem for baby. The concern is that the weight of baby, and all will put pressure on the major artery that runs back to the heart from the lower body. I am still comfy on my back, and I know my body will tell me when it is time to give this up.

I've been thinking about the same thing too.
I'm most comfortable on my back but thought it might be unsafe for baby too..

I am having terrible problems sleeping, i just cant get comfy and i am keeping my OH awake all night. I always used to sleep on my back but have been told you shouldn't, however when i wake up i always seem to be on my back. I start off trying to sleep on my side but isn't very comfortable!

I'm a stomach sleeper and my DH was worried to death that I was squishing the baby. The doctor seems to think it's fine though so I wouldn't worry about it. I have read that after a certain number of weeks (can't remember the number exactly and am at work so I dont have the book in front of me) you aren't supposed to lay on your back for more than 20 minutes at a time.

I´ve always been a good sleeper, and still am to a certain extent, but find dropping off to sleep recently difficult as I can´t find a good position to sleep in. I sleep on my tummy, but feel bad about doing so, but sleeping on my side all the time, is uncomfy. I often wake in the night and realise I´m on my back - and remember reading somewhere that we shouldn´t - but it actually feels comfier on my back than any other position at the mo!

I have quite a bump and still lay slightly on my belly for a lot of the night. I get terrible pain in my hips if I lay on my side for too long.

It's safe if it's still comfortable like everyone else has said. My bump makes me quite clumsy when I turn over now and I often get pains from that.
