Oh dear it has got bad!!

Well firstly i FINALLY went to the doctors about my back and they have refered me for physio and supect SPD... just what i wanted

Then last night i woke up (when i say woke up... i mean sat up from not being asleep in the first place) with my asthma playing me up so i had to take the day off work today Which means i have now lost a days money!!

But on the plus side i guess? I am craving egg mayo sandwiches and sausage rolls so bad i drove into town to find some nice looking food. And i ended up in Greggs and came out with both i havent eaten the sausage roll yet but i am annoyed about my sandwich it had seedy bits in the bread and i dont like them.... but it tasted good all the same

Now this is how bad it has got with my cravings. http://www.greggsthebakers.co.uk/pro...?ptid=1&pid=15
I am sitting here looking at food on the internet looking at food i have in front of me... (my brain told me to do it!)

Oh i love being pregnant

I can sympathize hun! I recently got diagnosed with SPD and sciatica. I had a group session this morning with the obstetric physio people. They gave me some useful advice on exercises/techniques to help, especially with regards to getting in and out of bed and climbing stairs etc. They told me all about (and demonstrated) products available to make life a little easier (air cushions, bump bands, gym balls etc) and said that if I feel it is necessary I can have a pair of crutches (I'm trying to hold off that for now-I'll see how I feel in a couple of weeks). They also gave me a number to call to arrange individual physio sessions if/when I feel I need it. Hope you get some relief soon xx

Here are just a few tips:-
-try not to sit or stand for long periods of time. Both are bad for you. Moving little and often is best if you can
-when supermarket shopping, try to get someone else to go with you to push the trolley
- avoid lifting heavy objects
-when doing tasks like the ironing sit down to do it.
- when getting into and out of bed do so on your side (ie don't swing one leg in and then the other) and if you need to turn over in bed keep your knees together
-place and extra pillow between your knees in bed to support your legs and stabilise your pelvis
-when about to stand up, clench your buttocks together while you do so and for the first few steps as it will help to support your pelvis
-take the stairs one step at a time, stepping up with your good leg first(if you have one)-otherwise where possible avoid the stairs-they are the devil as far as SPD goes!
-heat (ie hot water bottle) or conversely ice packs may help relieve discomfort
-swimming can help, but NO BREASTSTROKE LEG ACTION!
-do your pelvic floor exercises

Hope that helps!
xx
