Worried - Sharp pains in bottom left of abdomen..?

Hi
Am new to this site and this is my first pregnancy . I'm 16 weeks now .
All day today I've been experiencing a sharp interimitent pain in the bottom left area of my abdomen. It like a sharp stab and it happens several times an hour. I've been sat down for the last two hours but its still happening.

Is this normal? Could it be round ligament pain? I'm starting to get a bit worried about it

Hi honey

I would speak to my mw if I was you, it could be round ligament pain but I would get advise to be on the safe side.

For now till you speak to your doctor, put your feet up and drink lots of water. It helps stopping any contractions of the uterus if there any. Also, try paracetamol if the pain gets really bad, and again speak to your doctor for peace of mind

Thank girls for your replies. I saw MW and she said it was round ligament pain. Have had a bit of a growth spurt in the bump area! Its gone for now but I guess it will return again!
