I am trying not to freak out...

Over the last two days I have accumulated between 14-18 mosquito bites. Well, this morning I sprayed myself with Off Smooth & Dry to combat these nasty blood suckers... only to now have it dawn on me just now that maybe I'm not supposed to use that?!? I've put in a call to my doctor, and I'm not so patiently waiting for her to call back...

I did find this while doing a search: http://www.babycenter.com/404_is-it-...egnant_9220.bc and I lightly sprayed myself when I did it this morning. By luck, the one I used is at the light end of the DEET spectrum. I just pray that I haven't done anything to hurt our baby.

Anyone else talked to their doctor/midwife about this per chance?

Just heard back from the doctors office, and in the event anyone else ever searches "bug spray" like I did before posting I wanted to update.

The nurse said that though they certainly recommend finding a bug spray that is DEET free, having used it once or twice should cause no harm. So, I'm putting away the Off and looking for something else this weekend... hopefully I'll still have enough blood left in me to make it to the store

And also, why is it that they do not include this important information along with the other no's of pregnancy?
You know... don't eat tile fish, don't take Ibuprofen, don't use products containing DEET?!?!

At least that is good news for you- and sensible of you to ask. Hope you get to the shops soon x

have you thought about maybe using the clips that you just clip onto your pants?

http://www.offprotects.com/clip-on-mosquito-repellent/

or they have baby mosquito spray, maybe that would be better.

Have you tried "Skin So Soft" (by Avon) - http://www.avoidmosquitobites.com/mo...-repellent.asp

It is DEET free and used by the British Army...

I took some to Alaska with me, but the mosquittos were not bad at all (in July), so ended up not using it.... (so cannot comment on effectiveness from personal experience)

I've heard good things about Skin so Soft. Unfortunately for me the mosquitos think I'm the best thing ever, so nothing works. I have learned not to go outside very often. I end up itching for a week too. *sigh* Stupid blood suckers!

So true, Everyone always stands or sits near me because then they are left alone. It's a bit insulting, but sadly it works for them.
