Split Placenta or Placenta Abruption

Hello,

Hope everyone is well....

I was just wondering has anyone been told they have a split in the placenta or a placenta Abruption?

Would like a bit more information on it, To cut a long story short i have been in hospital with low tummy pains and they have advised i may have a placenta abruption? but it is not clear on the scan...I left hospital yesterday and when speaking to the doctor they advised they still wasnt sure and too wait till my 20week scan and ask then , which is tommorrow, But i cant help but worry?

Please help if you can x

I would demand to know more about it hun. I didn't think they could send you home if you'd had an abruption unless it's a small one?

They should have explained it to you in more detail. Maybe give your day unit a ring to see if they can give you anymore info?

Well i tried to call and speak to hospital today, but they advised to wait till tommorrow.

When i was in hospital they advised they were unsure by the Ultra sound scan it could of been ( in there words an Artifax ) , I then had a blood test too see if any of the babys blood was found in mine due to the split, I was told by the doctor that there was no baby blood so the small thing that was seen on the scan would be something my body had produced and nothing for me to worry about, so my mind was then at rest.....

Then as i left yesterday, they wrote that i may have a small abruption on my placenta and can it be checked at my scan tommorrow?

Im just so confused................

I hope it all works out. I hope they give you some better advice and answers. Some drs are very poor at explaining and keeping us calm. All the best for tomorrow, dont leave till you are totally happy with the information you are given

placenta abruptions can be very serious and ive seen alot of babies die from them so i would make sure u ask them everything. sorry to sound so blunt but its just so important to keep an eye on it. coz if it gets too bad they can deliver your baby at 24 weeks at it would have a better chance outside then inside with a placental abruption. i would ask that if it is a small abruption is there a chance it could get bigger? just be careful. it can deprive the baby of nutrients and more importantly oxygen. sorry not trying to scare u its just much better to be informed cause it could make all the diffference. best of luck for tomorrow. xx
