Feeling better about things.

Well I saw the consultant today and he reasured me a lot.

He said that he personally didn't believe my risk of having a baby with Downs Syndrome is increased at all and that he doesn't think women should be told if an Echogenic foci is found because but that it's a no win situation as many women say it's their baby and they want to know everything. Personally I agree that I would rather not have known.

He said my triple test result was excellent and that even divided by 3 (which is how much some doctors believe the risk is increased by) my risk is still ithin normal range for my age and nowhere near high.

He also said that he believed the link to downs syndrome is a bit dated because it used to be that about 30 years ago only women where a problem was suspected would be scanned and so they'd think this was a link to a problem if it was found but for the most part it seems to be an almost normal thing which is most commonly seen at 20 weeks and gone by 23.

I'm sure I'm still going to have my moments of panic during my pregnancy but I think everyone, even with good test results still worries about there being problems when their baby is born. On the whole I feel much better and able to look forward to having a baby again.
