My back is killing me!

Does anyone have any suggestions?! My lower back always starts to ache at the end of the day and I've been having trouble getting to sleep so I'm usually up until at least 3 am I've tried sleeping with a pillow between my knees and ankles but that sometimes seems to make it worse. I feel like there's a ton of pressure very low in my back just above my butt like I need to pop it (I used to but I can't do the twisting anymore with my belly). Please help! Is a heating pad helpful or ok? maybe bengay? but that will penetrate my skin so i don't know if that's ok for the baby. *sigh* Any suggestions would be great!

Geez, if I'm hurting now I can't imagine how it's going to feel in a few months

Maybe there is a masseuse in your area that can cater to pregnant women, or perhaps an acquaintance can help you relieve some tension with a massage.

I've been having back troubles as well, and I've decided I want to try one of these...

Wooden massagers

A few more

I saw a doula use this on a pregnant woman in labor. I figured maybe it will help me,too!

Also, it helps me to be active. Sometimes my lower back tightness means I need to stretch out my hamstrings and calves some.

Exercise for pregnant women.

My hubby is out of the country right now, actually I am lol so he can't give me my usual back rubs, but those massagers look nice! I'll def have to try that and it's nice that they're pretty cheap too! Thanks! I've thought about going to a chiropractor because I feel like it's my joints or whatever but i don't know about that. I'll just try the massagers for now i guess. THANKS!

Unfortunatly there isn't much that can help as you can't take anything other than paracetamol.

Like I said in another post I have a slightly curved spine and it's been killing me. I've found it really hard to keep a good posture but if I don't it really hurts and by the end of the day nothing is comfortable.

My husband got me a mat that I lay on it heats up and vibrates all along my back and down my legs in 9 spots. If you just want the heat they have what's called a bed buddy http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/se...rocess=default you microwave it for up to 2 minutes. It's great.

I am having exactly the same problem!
Havn't really found anything to help yet except lying on the floor with a warm hot water bottle under me seems to be good for like half an hour but then it starts hurting again.
Just wanted to say you're not alone, I'm feeling exactly the same..!

I have had the same problem. I am going to a chiropractor, having a massage and using accupuncture. I think the accupuncture is the best as I have no pain after I leave their office, and feel fine for days after. Yoga is also helping. My instructors have given me several positions that have helped.

If you kneel on the floor on all fours and arch your back and then lower it, moving your hips back and forth it will help a lot! Our birthing teacher said that back pain a lot of times is from the baby being lodged between your hips so it's pushing your pelvis out of place. By doing this, it gets the baby out of there and back into your belly area. I've been doing it about 10 times in a row for the last two weeks and it's helped a TON!

Maternity belts can be really nice on your back, especially the ones with lumbar support.
