No idea if it is normal. I know my uterus is just getting to my belly button, and I have only had a few kicks in that area. My baby likes to kick me on the left side. But we are all build differently, I have really wide hip bones, so my LO has lots of room down that, and sees no reason to move up.

Ive felt a few things there but I wasnt sure if it was gas or not. Who knows.

2" above your belly button is probably gas. I thought it was movement, but my Dr. told me it was right where my stomach was. Of course, if you are short and narrow, it could be up that high. Can you tell I ask my dr. a lot of random questions?
