You do get them in the UK, just not as often, its the same as bridal showers etc, they tend to be more well known in America but they have been known to happen over here.

i was just googling it myself, yes you can play games like guess the weight/date of birth, guess the size of mummies bump, how many safty pins in a jar, pin the 'dummy' on the baby.

if i was to have one i would write on the invite 'no gifts' as id want colin there when people give us gifts

Here's some games for you ladies...

Measure Mummy

Pass around a ball of string or wall and have guests take off the amount they think will fit around mum-to-be's belly. The closest one wins a prize.

Feeding Race

Have guests partner up. Put a bib on one person and have the other person stand behind them and they are to be the "arms". The person behind the person with the bib feeds them a jar of baby food. The first pair to finish wins.

(have a camera ready, trust me lol)

Photo Game

Invite guests to bring a baby photo of themselves to the party. display all the photo's and have guests try and pick the photo of the mum to be and other guests.

Some other little nice things to do...

*Make some cards that say "Advice for Mum and dad to be" and pass the cards out amongst the guests for them to write hints and tips that they have learnt. Include them in a keepsake album then.

*If having a cake, have family members light a candle each and make wishes for the new baby.

* Buy a plain baby blanket and some pretty permanent fabric pens. pass the blanket around and pens during the shower and let everyone autograph and write personal comments for the new bub. this can be hung later in the bubs room as instead of using it... looks awesome!!

This is just some common ones from what i know!!

Hope this helps
