What. The. Hell?!?

You would never believe what my cousin said to me today!

She was complaining about how ill she is because her period is due and then turns to me and says 'oh, you're sooo lucky that you don't have to have periods for a whole 9 months!!' - and i was like 'yeah, but i have to be constipated, hungry, sick, fat, have back pain, BH and then at the end i have to GIVE BIRTH! Give me the periods anyday!'

And you will never believe her response.

She says 'oh, i think your over-reacting, doesn't seem that bad'

And she was not joking.

I almost killed her.

actually i prefer to be pregnant than have periods sorry, not agreeing with what she said though! Some women really suffer in pregnancy, i am lucky to do not to bad...whereas i get agonising heavy periods...pregnancy is bliss compared to them!

I don't' mean to be contrary, but the break of 9 months from my periods (debilitating spasm like pain for 24 to 36 hours straight leaving me tired, irritable and weak with a heavy loss of blood) is a HUGE relief. I woudl have to take days off and make excuses unless i had desk work and even then people tended to ask me "are you okay? you don't look well" etc.

I think obviously some women have lighter periods than others and some have no pain at all. All the gripes of pregnancy UNTIL childbirth don't compare to the pain of my periods and every time I go into the toiletries cupboard and see my unused tampons and period pads a smile always graces my face!

Periods and pregnancy have pretty much been equally rough for me, so I guess it's just a trade-up.

Sometimes, menstrual symptoms can be worse than pregnancy symptoms in some people. So your friend must be right. It's a matter of differences. She may have been pregnant and can compare it to having a period.

My periods were a breeze. Apart from some trouble in my early teens they have been grand. I wonder if that will change after the birth.

Yeah my periods have been dead easy really. Never had any trouble with them. So someone telling me being pregnant and having to give birth is easier, i want to slap them, lol. Which is a little over the top i suppose, i just dont think im having a very pleasent pregnancy!

notice how its mostly us girls with the bad periods that jumped onto this one, lol! i also have pcos like sera above mentioned good cos we don't get many periods but then i had no idea i was pregnant!) however when i did have a period about every 8-11 weeks i would be ill for about a week each time and always pass out on the 1st day with the pain and blood loss, would be sick alot too. so even with 8 weeks of bad MS during this pregnancy n all the other symptoms, so far (and i guess that might change?!) i prefer pregnancy to periods! at least theres something amazing at the end of it to look forward to, unlike a period hahaha :-) x
