Infection Worries :(

Went to see the midwife today for a regular check up.
Everything was good with blood tests all good and blood pressure etc etc...
Baby was kicking and moving away from doppler but she got a strong heartbeat so that was perfect.
But then she asks for my sample, and then she says " any trouble passing urine etc" and I was like "...no...." She then said it looked like a had a small infection and to hand in another sample tomorrow...
I'm worried what kind of infection it could be and if it could harm the baby

Will they be able to get rid of it without hurting the baby?
Is there a chance it's an STI?

Will more than likely be a urine infection, very common even without being pregnant. A lot of people can have urine infections without knowing.
Usually a course of antibiotics is necessary, but I'm not sure in pregnancy as obviously antibiotics should be used cautiously.

Your other sample will be sent away to a lab to have it properly tested. Once these results come back then they'll let you know if it is an infection and what treatment you'll need.

Hey, I went to my doctor today and she told me I had a urine infection, she gave me some capsule antibiotics to cure the infection and said that about 95% of pregnant women get an infection at some stage of their pregnancys.
The medication is totally baby safe, so its nothing to worry about. xxx

there are much worse things that can happen in pregnancy! A UTI isn't a big deal really unless it turns into a kidney infection. I had two lots of antibiotics (just finished them actually!) for a UTI and when I spoke to my dr about my concerns he said that unless I got incredibly ill with it, the baby would be fine, wouldn't even know! I'm not sure if I've still got the infection or not but I figure it'll wait until my 16 week appointment, because some people who are pregnant have them for a month or so without knowing. If you get any symptoms like back pain (if I put my hands on the bottom of my ribs with my fingers on the front, it hurts where my thumbs lie when I have a UTI) or pain weeing, you really ought to get it seen to anyway. Did she give you antibiotics or say anything about it? Usually, if there is protein, white blood cells or blood in the urine, they'll send it off to get analyzed properly anyway.
