So where exactly am i supposed to be feelin gthese elusive "flutters"? Hee!

Okay so I just drank a pint of water and I don't know if I felt the baby fluttering about or if it's just internal glooping and gulping and bubbling and gas.

And then I heard some stomachy noises which made em think its not the baby after all.

But for future reference (and sorry to be so OBSESSED about this!!!! ) where am I supposed to be feeling the baby?

It's funny if it was gas and the like as I had my hand on my belly quite lovingly.

Down to the bottom right was where I first felt mine. I didn't feel it till 21 weeks though as I have an anterior placenta - do you know if you have an anterior placenta or not?

i had a strange sensation at 14 weeks about 1-2 inches below my belly button - it was while I was lying in the bath and it was so strange I shouted out for my husband to come and feel it, but he didnt hear me. It was like fluttering / bubbling and you could see the skin move up and down !! It did feel like being kicked by a tiny foot! I know some people will say that it was too early to feel it at 14 weeks - but i've heard that it is actually quite well known especially if you have a very slight build which I have.

Then last night (im now 18 weeks +2) I felt the same thing again only a bit stronger, less like fluttering more like a few kicks! You could see the skin move up and down again and it was the same place below my belly button. My husband was sat next to me and he put his hand in the spot and felt it !! We were so excited - he said that was how he remembered it (he has a child from a previous relationship).

I was very surprised it was so high up - I expected it to be further down because my bump is further down. I wondered whether it was actually the baby pulling on he umbilical cord because it was so close to the belly button but it does feel like kicking. I've felt a couple this morning but more to the left..

all maddie's movements are below the belly button.the uterus isn't actually above the belly button till around 24 weeks.so all movement will be below the belly button.

thats great thanks bex. I dont know why - i just thought it would be much lower down! red poppy - it sounds very possible you have felt the baby moving, I have felt a lot of different sensations over the last few weeks - maybe some times it is just gas but i think other times it really is baba wriggling around in there. i think what i felt this morning was defo kicking but any movement is exciting x let me know when you feel your first kick x

All my bubba's movements have been below my belly button for the last couple of weeks! At first they felt like little flutters like my belly was rumbling or summit but surely enough it's definately baby so you might be feeling it afterall xx

It is exciting but it will be far more exciting when I'm really sure its not gas!

Hey Sazzle: my pregnancy is going okay but work is being very full on. I have to do a lot of driving and sitting in traffic on the way back to London from somwhere about 150 - 200 miles away every week; it puts me into a crazed frantic stress zone which means i get home and just lie on the sofa insisting the TV stay off and my OH not ask me any questions. I've decided that although I used to think i was good "under pressure" I've changed my mind. I don't understand how I'll go back to work after being a mum I've become such a wuss!

And my due date is what the scannerologist woman told me it was but she's wrong as I know when I had sex. So I'm 18 weeks today or tomorrow. Not that a few days here or there matters! I'm hoping its not a new years baby as having a Bday party on new years eve/day doesn't sound like fun and then going out in the evening, leaving her or him (obviously when they're older) with someone seems really unfair on their Birthday! Or worse going out at night then coming back to arrange a kids bday! hahah! all very selfish but yeah; give me a week here or there! How about you?
