how accurate is edd given after ultrasound?

i dont mean how accurate as in, "will the baby def be born on my due date" i mean like can they think you are a certain amount of weeks when you are actually not?

i know the edd can be "off" give or take a few days, but is it common or even possible for them to measure you like 2 weeks behind what you actually are?

ive had two scans and the changed my edd by a couple of days on the second scan, so is that def the right date?

im only asking because i had sex with someone who i REALLY do not want to be the dad.. i have no reason to think he is as the due date fits in with the other guy i slept with but just making sure no one here has been measures like a good two weeks wrong!

It's not likely to be that far wrong, but you can give birth 3 weeks before and up to 2 weeks after you due date and be classed as full term For example I'm due on 28th December and my baby could be born (at full term) any time between 7 december and 11 january. So just because they give you a date, it doesn't mean the baby will turn up then.

My EDD is October 17th. I had my 20 week scan at 19+5 and when she measured the baby everything measured 19+3. She told me because it is only 2 days off they kept my due date the same. They get your EDD from the measurment of the baby not your last period. They go by your last period in the beginning because baby is too small to get accurate measurements, then at the 20 week scan they go by measurements. So I would say they are pretty accurate.

Ive had three u/s and the second one I measured a day ahead of the first then at my 20 week baby was measuring 5 days ahead but I really doubt it can be a whole 2 weeks off of dates but you could ask your Dr to be sure they may be able to tell you more.

I have read in 1st tri people knowing the exact date they conceived but still measuring 1/2 weeks ahead or behind, I dont understand it but it is possible. Sperm can stay alive for 5 days or something and then babies grow at different rates, I'm certainly no expert though, I guess the only definate way you will know is to have a DNA test once baby is born. Wishing you all the best xxx
