Question

Very Odd

So, I've got a question. We have a fetal doppler that we've been listening to since we've been able to find the HB. A few days ago we found a HB that sounded different from what we've found before. Usually we find a HB that is a wooshing sound and is around 150bpm. The one we found a few days ago sounds like a gallopping horse and is around 136bpm. I found BOTH again today, they seem to overlap, but if I move the doppler just a tenny bit I can pick up one or the other. Anyone have any thoughts as to why this would happen? I had a scan at 8wks that showed only one baby, but haven't had another scan since then.

without meaning to freak you out, at 8 weeks you can still have one hiding behind the other you'll see at your next scan lol, ring and try to get in earlier if you explain they can prob do it sooner. It could be something or nothing, ive never got a doppler so i dont know, and only ever seen the HB during scans so there could be a simple solution someone else can gove you

Totally doesn't freak me out as I would LOVE to have twins! DH is a little...erm...concerned though, lol. We DID use fertility drugs (clomid) so we knew it could be a possibility.

My midwife said whooshing is your bloodflow and babies heartbeat sounds like a train or a horse. Not sure if that helps

Hmm...the docs said the wooshing was the baby's heart, cause that's what they'd been picking up too..that's the one that is in the 150's. Not really a woosh...more like a washing machine I guess. I'm so confused!

The whooshing sound could be your placenta. The first time I ever heard the heartbeat on the doppler at my doctor's office, she showed me where my placenta was and explained the whooshing sound (almost wind like) was the blood flow to the placenta. I was amazed at how much blood went to the placenta and how quickly it was! It was an amazing sound.
