Husband wants co-ed shower, I dont :(

We just really got into it because he wants a co-ed and I always wanted a girls only. He has his feelings hurt and says he pictured it to be a certain way and now I ruined it. I thought guys dont even like going to showers, and i feel if guys are there, they wont play games, they will be bored, want football on, and to drink and just ruin the whole feel of my shower! What can I do? I don't want to ruin this fun time for us by arguing Please help

i never had a shower so i dont know really, but maybe have two..? one for his friends and family etc and do it the way he wants to do it, like people who youd feel you HAD to invite, go to that one too, but then the people who you wanted to come it be a little girlie etc and play games and have fun and do it YOUR way, then invite clostest friend etc, and people who you wanted. Im not sure that makes sense, but I know what i mean lol.

Hope evrything reseolves itself for you x

I think its great that your husband wants to be involved! Most guys aren't thrilled about baby showers! My DH also wants to be involved, so we are having a co-ed shower. Most of his family is guys, so it was kinda impossible not to have one, since we want to include all of our family. (Our baby is the first for 21 years on his side).

I agree that most guys dont want to play baby games and stuff, so were setting up a poker table in the media room, and all the guys get to play poker. But the buy in is a pack of diapers (So we get plenty of diapers too LOL). And all the girls will be in the family room, playing the girly games. Then we will eat and do presents and stuff together. My DH has been GREAT about helping! He helped with the registry, and with the invitations so far. Is this your first child?

You of course should do what you want, but IMO, if he wants to be involved, let him. Your lucky you seem to have a great guy! =)

Wow...for a second there...i was really confused . I had to read it over, then read everyone elses responses! I thought you meant like an actual shower...ya know...to clean yourself!

Erm...anyways...I would do what the others said. Have two separate ones. Everyone gets what they want, and...you get more stuff!

I don't want to belittle or minimize your problem/argument at all, but.....please remember the following:
Smile! You're pregnant! So many of us are dying to be in your place. Once your baby arrives, none of this will ever matter! You could have two, which would be alright, or...you could just say "the more the merrier". The guests (men and women) will know that this is a baby shower and they'll act accordingly, I'm sure.

My BF is coming to mine, I want him there to open all the gifts with me, and just for the experience.

However, my family and his family are having seperate ones because his family are a bunch of --- *clears throat*. His mom told me that basically he didn't need to be there because her side of the family "Doesn't understand that!" I was like, well I want him there with me. It's not my fault they didn't want to do just one. Then his brother came up to him and said he was going to throw him one for guys, with a bunch of his brothers work friends, that Jamie doesn't even know?!?!

I am however doing a co-ed with my side of the family, and then Jamie will just be there with me during his family's.

You could however do the two seperate ones. That way you both get what you want, and everyone is happy. Plus you get twice as much stuff!!

good luck!

My best friend had a co-ed shower and it was a blast. We played all kinds of silly games to get the guys involved and they had a great time. We made them play pregnant twister, do shots out of a baby bottle and such.

I thought exactly the same thing! I wasn't sure why you'd want a shower that only the girls could use... Although, thinking about it, that's probably a great idea. xx
